Kern County Fire Emergency Communications Center Achieves Prestigious Re-Accreditation

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. | The Kern County Fire Emergency Communications Center (ECC) has once again proven its commitment to excellence by achieving re-accreditation as the world’s 77th Medical Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED). This marks the ECC’s 8th accreditation, an incredible milestone that underscores the dedication and skill of its Emergency Dispatchers.

The Kern County Fire Emergency Communications Center, a vital part of the Kern County Fire Department, is staffed by highly trained Emergency Dispatchers who serve as the “first, first responders.” They expertly manage and respond to every request for assistance, ensuring swift and accurate emergency response.

IAED is the global standard-setting organization for emergency dispatch services. Accreditation from IAED represents the highest level of achievement for communication centers worldwide, certifying that the Kern County Fire Emergency Communications Center consistently performs at or above industry standards. Centers that achieve ACE status exemplify “dispatch done right,” demonstrating exceptional local oversight, rigorous quality assurance processes, and a commitment to data-driven improvement. “Accreditation is truly a pinnacle achievement,” said Christof Chwojka, Accreditation Board Chair at IAED. “We applaud the dedicated call-takers, dispatchers, and leadership team at Kern County for their commitment to quality and for meeting that high standard that few achieve. We know their community can count on these first, first responders to do an outstanding job.”

Congratulations to the entire Kern County Fire Emergency Communications Center team for this incredible accomplishment!
