BAKERSFIELD, Calif. | The Kern County Fire Department (KCFD) will be conducting a training burn in East Bakersfield. This live fire training is part of a collaborative effort between the KCFD, the Bakersfield Fire Department, and private landowners. The exercise provides an excellent opportunity to teach firefighters advanced techniques in a planned, controlled environment.
In addition to enhancing firefighter skills, this training burn offers environmental and community benefits. By burning in a calculated and controlled manner, the beneficial fire will help renew the landscape and reduce wildfire hazards to the surrounding community.
Location: Southwest corner of the intersection of Highway 178 and Valley Street, East Bakersfield.
Dates: Sunday and Monday, November 17–18, 2024.
As with all live fire training, this exercise is subject to change based on weather conditions and emergency activity levels across Kern County.
