Fire Prevention Message:

The Kern County Fire Department is responsible for the protection of lives and property within Kern County. The Department’s jurisdiction consists of all the unincorporated areas of Kern County, including the contract cities of Ridgecrest, Delano, Wasco, Taft, Tehachapi, Shafter, Arvin, Maricopa, and McFarland. The Department’s mission is to provide services that are geared towards anticipating and responding to the ever-changing needs of our diverse communities.

 

The Kern County Fire Prevention Unit plays a very important role in the Department’s overall mission. This unit is also tasked with implementing the policies and programs that reduce the magnitude of emergencies and prevents or minimizes the loss of life, property, and environmental damage. The Fire Prevention Unit will provide education to our public, the engineering, per the fire code, during plan review and enforcement of the fire code to meet our goals.
