BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Kern County Fire Department (KCFD) is proud to announce that over 120 of our highly trained firefighters are currently assisting communities and partner agencies outside of Kern County. Our firefighters are deployed across multiple states, including Idaho, Oregon, and California, as they respond to critical incidents.
KCFD personnel are taking on a variety of essential roles, from serving in incident management teams to covering fire stations in San Bernardino County, allowing local crews to stay on the front lines. Our teams, including engine companies, hand crews, and bulldozer operators, are actively involved in fire suppression efforts in Orange, Riverside, and Los Angeles Counties, providing support where it is needed most.
“We understand the value of assistance during challenging times,” said Fire Chief Aaron Duncan. “Earlier this year, during the Borel Fire—the largest wildfire in Kern County’s history—thousands of firefighters from across the state and beyond came to our aid. Now, we are determined to pay it forward by offering the same support to others in need, all while continuing to safeguard our own Kern County communities.”
KCFD remains fully committed to ensuring the safety of residents in Kern County while lending our expertise and resources to help our fellow agencies combat wildfires and protect communities across the western United States.
