Incident Narrative
ROSAMOND, Calif. On November 7, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. Kern County firefighters were dispatched to a house fire on the 2100 block of 100th St. West. Multiple callers reported an active fire, and Engine 15’s crew could see a column of smoke rising as they raced to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters found multiple structures ablaze. As strong winds howled, they quickly assessed the situation, finding two structures fully engulfed in flames, while a third was approximately 80% involved. The fire had also spread into nearby grass, burning roughly a quarter acre.
With part of the third building still salvageable, firefighters began their attack there. As additional crews arrived, they worked to contain the vegetation fire and combat the intense flames consuming the fully involved structures. With the nearest water source being a fire hydrant located approximately six miles away, firefighters established a water-shuttling operation with fire engines and water tenders to supply the scene.
Despite the challenging winds and limited water access, firefighters successfully pushed back the flames and conducted searches for victims. Thankfully, no victims were found, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains undetermined. Fire crews stayed on the scene for several hours, conducting overhaul operations and extinguishing remaining embers to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
