LAKE ISABELLA, Calif. | Today, The Kern County Fire Department placed a new Medic Squad into service at Station 72 in Lake Isabella, marking a significant enhancement to emergency services in the Kern River Valley.
This expansion adds two additional firefighters to the response force, including a paramedic, increasing both staffing and the level of medical care available to the community. With this addition, KCFD will now provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) care directly within the Kern River Valley.
“Today’s launch of this Medic Squad represents a meaningful investment in the safety and well-being of the Kern River Valley. Made possible by increasing staffing and introducing Advanced Life Support level care.” Said Kern County Fire Chief Aaron Duncan.
The Medic Squad is a specialized apparatus design. Its smaller size and enhanced maneuverability allow firefighters to reach locations that may be challenging for larger fire engines, improving access across the diverse terrain of the valley.
The addition of ALS services means paramedics can now provide advanced medical interventions on scene, including cardiac monitoring, advanced airway management, and the administration of critical medications.
This new unit reflects KCFD’s ongoing commitment to strengthening emergency response through strategic investments in personnel, equipment, and service delivery. As the department continues to grow and evolve, enhancements like this ensure that communities across Kern County receive timely, effective, and high-quality emergency care.
