At 6:44 a.m. Kern County Fire Department crews responded to the report of downed power lines near Kecks Road and Highway 46. As crews left the station a large column of smoke could be seen and a full wildland vegetation response was started. First arriving crews found a grass fire spreading in light flashy fuels and began an aggressive attack to extinguish the fire. Quick actions by fire crews kept the fire to 13 acres.
The cause of this fire is under investigation. There were no injuries reported by civilians or firefighters.
