Tejon Fire - 2 miles South of the Bottom of the Grapevine on South I-5 West Side

Current Situation: The Kern County Fire Department responded to two spot fires on southbound Interstate 5. Upon arrival, one spot fire was contained to 50 x 100 ft. A second spot grew to 60 acres. Aggressive attack by firefighters using hose lays and the air support of air tankers and helicopters kept the fire from growing in size. Hand crews and Dozers were requested and created containment lines to stop the progression of the fire. Crews will remain on scene till all the small burning vegetation is extinguished.

Evacuations: No evacuations.

Road Closures: No road closures

Cooperating Agencies: Bureau Of Land Management, United States Forest Service, and California Highway Patrol

 Additional Information: Fire Investigators are on scene trying to determine the cause of the fire.
