Wildland Fire - 6 miles East of Kelso Creek
Kern County Fire Department called in smoke showing 6 miles East of Kelso Creek. Crews arrived on scene to find a fast moving fire on the Kelso Valley Ridge. The fire is inaccessible to crews and vehicles and is only accessible by air. Currently we have approximately 700-800 acres on fire and is burning in the Kiavah Wilderness. Helicopters and air tankers are working hard in trying to stop forward progress of this fire. We have approximately 150 firefighters battling this fire.
