Bakersfield, CA

At 4:00 p.m. Kern County Fire Department Emergency Dispatchers started receiving calls for a grass fire near Highway 58 and General Beale Road. First arriving fire crews found a fire 3 miles east of General Beale Road, approximately 1/4 acre in size in light fuels with a slow rate of spread. Favorable weather conditions, combined with an aggressive attack by ground and air resources, kept the fire to approximately 1/2 acre in size. The cause of this fire is under investigation. There were no injuries reported by civilians or firefighters.
