Incident Narrative

On May 5th KCFD personnel responded to a hiker that had fallen 10ft from a waterfall. KCFD personnel were able to reach the victim and found the person had a suffered fatal medical emergency. Kern County Firefighters and KC Search and Rescue coordinated an elaborate rope system to safely remove the victim from the elevated position to the base of the falls. Using a stokes, rope system, and a wheel attached to the stokes the crews were able to bring the victim to the road and to the coroner. No safety personnel were injured during the rescue.
