Incident Narrative

WASCO, Calif., Just before 6:00 pm Tuesday, Kern County firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire near the intersection of Hwy 46 and Leonard Ave. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire from the second story of the former Valley Rose Golf Clubhouse. A second alarm was requested for additional equipment and firefighters to bring the fire under control. As additional Kern County firefighters arrived on scene from surrounding communities an aggressive attack was made on the fire, while simultaneously conducting victim searches in the large vacant building (approximately 10,000 square feet). No persons were found during the searches and firefighters remained on scene for several hours extinguishing hidden fires in hard-to-reach void spaces of the attic and roof. No injuries were reported by civilians or firefighters.
