On Tuesday, September 26th at approximately 10:42 PM the Kern County Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 314 Warren Street in the city of Taft, CA. Upon arrival units found a two-story residential structure fire with heavy fire showing from the front of the structure. Fire crews made an aggressive attack to save the structure and surrounding exposures. While extinguishing the blaze a report was given of a possible victim sleeping in the second story bedroom. Truck 21 searched the upstairs unit while Engine 21 searched the downstairs area. Fire crews were able to give an "All Clear" of the structure as the occupant had escaped after waking to find the house ablaze. 17 firefighters worked to extinguish the fire from surrounding stations. There were two kittens found in the fire which were released to Taft PD Animal Control. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians during the incident.
