SHAFTER, Calif. | On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 1:18 p.m., the Kern County Fire Department responded to reports of a two-vehicle accident involving a school bus. Due to reports of multiple patients, additional units and another school bus were requested to provide a sheltered place for students to rest while awaiting evaluation. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.

Units arrived on scene to find a collision between two vehicles, with damage to the front of both. Eighteen individuals were on the bus. All individuals involved were evaluated by paramedics, and four were transported to a hospital for further evaluation. Incidents involving a large number of patients present unique challenges. The Kern County Fire Department, medical transport services, and receiving hospitals coordinated to ensure all individuals received definitive care as quickly as possible.
