Incident Narrative
BAKERSFIELD, Calif., Tuesday Kern County firefighters were dispatched to reports of a residential structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a mobile home with large amounts of fire and smoke from the rear of the structure. Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire and contained it to the structure of origin. The efforts of firefighters also led to two dogs and several rabbits being saved. Six residents were displaced because of the fire. A SAVE card was issued to the displaced residents and Red Cross was notified to provide additional assistance. One occupant was transported via ground ambulance for treatment at a local area hospital.
The SAVE card (California Fire Foundation’s Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency) is a $250 gift card given to survivors of fire and natural disasters by firefighters on scene. This allows survivors to purchase basic necessities such as food, clothing, gas, medicine, or a place to stay the night in the immediate aftermath of a house fire.Â
