MARICOPA, Calif., On February 24, 2025, at 2:24 a.m., Kern County firefighters were dispatched to a report of a possible house fire on the 900 block of S. Kern St.

Engine 22 arrived to find a singlewide mobile home approximately 50% involved in fire. A neighbor informed firefighters that a victim was inside. Firefighters immediately went into rescue mode, entering the home through multiple entry points, including a window and a hole in the wall. Progress was challenging as firefighters fell through weakened floors and battled intense fire as they searched. 

During the search, a deceased victim was found inside. Arson investigators, as well as the Kern County Sheriff Coroner’s Office, were requested to the scene.

The fire was knocked down and extinguished by firefighters. No injuries were reported. For information regarding the deceased, please contact the Kern County Sheriff Coroner’s Office. No injuries to firefighters were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
