Incident Narrative
BAKERSFIELD, Calif., On Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 1:36 p.m., Kern County firefighters responded to a reported trailer fire on the 6000 block of State Rd. Upon arrival at a trailer park, firefighters found a single trailer at the back of the park fully involved in flames. Positioned at the end of a row, the trailer burned directly beneath power lines, with fire having spread and fully engulfed a makeshift living quarters and a vehicle.
Despite challenges, including high levels of foot traffic and vehicles being moved around them without warning as they worked, firefighters successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to adjacent residences and causing further damage.Â
Tragically, during a search of the trailer, firefighters discovered one victim inside, deceased. Arson investigators and the Coroner were requested to the scene. Two dogs were also found, deceased. Outside the residence, firefighters found one person who suffered moderate injuries from the fire as well as a live dog. The patient was treated and transported to a local hospital.
No additional injuries were reported. For information regarding the deceased, please contact the Kern County Sheriff Coroner’s Office. This incident is under investigation by KCSO and KCFD.Â
