Incident Narrative

BODFISH, Calif., Saturday, Kern County Firefighters at the Lake Isabella Station (72) responded to an emergency involving a horse and its rider. Firefighters arrived on scene to find an injured rider who had been bucked off a horse. After the rider was bucked off, the horse had fallen into the Edison Flume on Kern River Canyon Road near Miller street. Firefighters treated the patient who was then transported to a local hospital by a Liberty ground ambulance. Firefighters then developed a plan with Edison to create a dirt ramp with the use of a backhoe provided by Edison. The horse was safely removed from the flume and returned to the owner. The horse suffered moderate injuries.
