Incident Narrative
On Monday night, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Kern County Fire Department was dispatched to a Commerical Structure Fire in Ridgecrest, CA. When the first engine arrived on the scene, fire and smoke were seen coming from inside of a gas station. More engines were ordered including, 2 engines from China Lake NAWS, and Engines from Randsburg, Inyokern, and Lake Isabella. The fire actually caused the roof to collapse inside the building. The City of Ridgecrest provided a front-end loader tractor to assist with overhaul and securing the structure from further collapse. Everyone who was inside the building had been evacuated during the initial start of the fire. Crews remained on the scene for several hours to extinguish the fire and were even able to retrieve valuables for the business owner from inside the structure.
