Incident Narrative
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. | On July 1, 2025, Kern County Firefighters responded to reports of smoke in the area of Calloway Frontage Road and Glenn Street. Additional calls reported that flames were visible and directly threatening one residential structure. First-arriving units found a vegetation fire spanning three residential lots along the railroad, with multiple outbuildings involved and one residential structure immediately at risk.
As more resources arrived on scene and began to surround the fire, Bakersfield Fire Department (BFD) and Kern County Fire Department (KCFD) firefighters coordinated their efforts to protect uninvolved structures and contain the blaze. The fire had spread into the attic of one structure, and crews quickly worked to gain access and extinguish it before it could spread further into the home. This was a long and arduous incident, and both BFD and KCFD worked tirelessly to ensure every remaining ember was extinguished. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.Â
