Incident Narrative

BODFISH, Calif., Tuesday morning, Kern County firefighters were dispatched to reports of multiple grass fires spreading towards homes in a Bodfish neighborhood. As firefighters arrived on scene from the KCFD and US Forest Service, additional resources were ordered due to the high threat to many homes. As the fires quickly spread an aggressive attack was made to contain the fires by ground and air resources. This strategy led to successfully stopping the forward progress of the fires before any structures could be damaged or destroyed. The total area burned amounted to approximately 8 acres. Personnel remained on scene for several hours extinguishing hot spots. No injuries were reported by civilians or firefighters on scene. The cause of the fires is under investigation.
