On Saturday, March 9, 2024, at approximately 5:15 pm, Kern County Fire Department and California City Fire Department units were dispatched to a popular Off Highway Vehicle recreation area east of Mojave for an injured OHV rider. 

Due to the terrain in the reported location KCFD Helicopter 407 from Keene was requested to respond for a possible hoist rescue.  KCFD personnel from Mojave and CCFD personnel arrived to find the patient on a steep slope suffering from moderate injuries.  Ground crews stabilized the patient as H407 arrived over scene and a rescuer was lowered to the patient and crews.  The patient was safely hoisted off the slope by the crew from H407 and transported a short distance, then lowered to ground personnel for transport to a local hospital.
