Thursday, just after 12 noon, Kern County firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire. Multiple reports were received stating an apartment complex had fire and smoke coming from the roof and no word if persons were still inside. Upon arrival, firefighters made entry to the most involved units to conduct searches for victims. Additional resources arrived, including Bakersfield City firefighters, and a knockdown of the fire was declared approximately 15 minutes after the first firefighters arrived on scene.
In total, 10 units were damaged and 13 individuals were displaced as a result of the fire. No one was injured. Nearly two dozen animals were rescued. The cause is under investigation.
