Incident Narrative
DELANO, Calif., At approximately 8:56 a.m. on November 2, 2023, Kern County firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire with multiple callers reporting a working fire. Firefighters advised that a column of smoke was visible as they left the station.
The first arriving fire crew found a double wide mobile home with heavy fire coming through the front windows. Nearly half of the residence was ablaze. The firefighters immediately attacked the fire from the exterior, knocking it back. Then, transitioning to an interior attack, they made their way inside the home. With the firefighter on the nozzle cooling their way, the firefighters simultaneously searched for life and fought the flames.
As more firefighters arrived, a fire hydrant was tapped and a water supply line was laid to the fire scene. Additional hose lines were employed, extinguishing any remaining fire. The home was methodically searched and thankfully, no victims were found. The surrounding mobile homes were left unscathed. No injuries were reported and the cause lies unknown.
