Incident Narrative

Wednesday, KCFD Helicopter 408  was dispatched to a remote area of Kelso Valley for a report of four patients who possibly had heat related illnesses. H408 arrived in the area and quickly located the patients. H408 assisted with directing KCSO Search and Rescue to the scene. H408 then lowered a rescuer via hoist to make patient contact and give a report on conditions. It was reported that the patients were experiencing symptoms of dehydration. H408 crew hoisted two patients and transported them to the awaiting ground ambulance near Southfork Middle School.

This marks the 3rd hoist rescue in three days for Kern County Fire Air Operations. With weather getting warmer we encourage people to bring plenty of food and water while enjoying the outdoors.
