Incident Narrative
LOST HILLS, Calif., September 3rd, at approximately 2:40p.m., the Kern County Fire Department was dispatched to a grass fire in the area of HWY 33 and Twisselman Rd. Engine and Patrol 26 from Lost Hills noticed a large column of smoke after leaving the station. Units arrived on scene to find approximately half of an acre of a scrapyard on fire with multiple cars, trailers, and pallets on fire. The wildland fire response was quickly downgraded to just engines and patrols, cancelling the helicopter, dozers, and hand crews. Firefighters went to work to protect a large metal warehouse immediately threatened by the extremely hot burning fire. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in approximately 3 hours from the time of dispatch. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.Â
