Sunday, at approximately 12:45 am the Kern County Fire Department's Emergency Communications Center began receiving reports of a house fire in the 800 block of Filburn Ave with someone trapped inside. A reinforced structure fire response was dispatched and the first arriving crew encountered heavy fire from the front of a private residence.  

The first arriving crew confirmed someone was still inside the residence and initiated a search for them inside the structure. Subsequent arriving crews assisted with the search and fire extinguishment. The fire was brought under control after approximately 30 minutes.  

One person on scene was treated and transported to a local hospital. Another was found deceased within the residence.  

The Kern County Coroners Office was contacted and assisted at the scene.
