Incident Narrative

MCKITTRICK, Calif. | On Wednesday September 17, at 10:48am, Kern County Fire Department received reports of a fire near Skyline and Elk Hills Roads. Units enroute had black smoke visible from a distance, and the first arriving units found a single vehicle fully engulfed in flames, with fire spreading to nearby grass. KCFD personnel quickly contained the vehicle fire while additional units extinguished the grass fire, with forward progress stopped at approximately 12 acres. Kern County Public Health has responded and is actively investigating the incident. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.
