Incident Narrative

Saturday, at approximately 5:17 pm, the Kern County Fire Department’s Emergency Communications Center received reports of a house fire in the 6000 block of East Brundage Lane with a person still inside. A reinforced structure fire response was dispatched and the first arriving firefighters found a mobile home with heavy fire to the front.

Crews were able to confirm there was a victim inside and made entry to the structure to perform a search and rescue if possible. The next arriving crews assisted with the search for the victim and extinguishing the fire. The fire was brought under control at approximately 5:30 pm.

One person was treated on scene and transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. Another person was located deceased inside the structure.

Smoke alarms that are properly installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries. Unfortunately, this home did not have a working smoke alarm.

Kern County Coroner was contacted and assisted at the scene.
