10/07/2022- RIDGECREST, Calif., Kern County firefighters were dispatched to a working structure fire with smoke showing en route. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered fire burning stored items in the yard, a vehicle, buildings, and trees. Firefighters began an aggressive attack, pulling multiple attack lines to protect exposures and fight the large volume of fire and exploding propane tanks. Fire was burning in two buildings. The detached garage was fully involved, and fire had spread into the attic of the main dwelling. Primary and secondary searches for victims were completed and found no persons inside. In total, firefighters were on scene for approximately five hours conducting extensive overhaul and mop-up to ensure the fire was completely extinguished. Red Cross was contacted to assist two adults who were displaced as a result of the fire.
