INYOKERN, Calif., Monday afternoon, Kern County firefighters responded to a structure fire reported by multiple persons. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a single-story single-family dwelling with heavy smoke and fire. Reports to the Kern County Emergency Communications Center stated two people were trapped inside. Firefighters' first actions were to attempt a rescue of the possible victims, starting with a primary search. This proved extremely difficult due to severe restrictions from the amount of personal belongings inside and around the residence. A verbal "all clear" was eventually obtained by speaking to the homeowner via telephone, who was not in the home. The fire destroyed the home of origin and many personal belongings in the yard before being extinguished. A KCFD dozer was requested to assist on scene with overhaul. There were no injuries reported on scene by civilians or firefighters. Cause is undetermined.
