Wednesday, the Kern County Emergency Communications Center received multiple reports of a home on fire located in a Taft, CA mobile home park. The callers reported large amounts of smoke and explosions. Taft Police Department arrived on scene and began the evacuation of occupants in the involved and adjacent homes. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a mobile home and outbuilding on fire. A knockdown of the fire was declared approximately 17 minutes after arriving on scene and a search for occupants inside was completed.
One person, the occupant of the home which burned, sustained moderate injuries and was transported via Hall Ambulance to a local hospital.
Initial searches confirmed three cats died in the fire.
