Incident Narrative
Lost Hills, CA., Friday at approximately 2:00 P.M., The Kern County Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire on Bitterwater Valley Rd three miles south of HWY 46. A full vegetation fire response was dispatched which brought one Cal Fire air attack and two Cal Fire air tankers in from neighboring counties. Upon arrival of first units, the fire was approximately 20 acres in size burning in thick dry grass with a slow to moderate rate of spread. Kern County Fire Department’s Helicopter 407 made multiple water drops to assist with containing the fire. The Cal Fire Air Tankers made multiple retardant drops to assist while fire crews directly put water on open fire lines. Total acreage burned was 225.5.Â
