ARVIN, Calif., Thursday morning, just after 3:00 a.m., Kern County firefighters were dispatched to a fire in an abandoned commercial building. Upon arrival firefighters encountered a building approximately 20,000 square foot in size with heavy smoke and fire from the second story windows and roof. While firefighters gained entry into the building a water supply was established, and fire trucks were assigned to set up for aerial water operations. Through the use of an aerial water stream and interior fire attack the fire was knocked down approximately two hours after firefighters arrived on scene. No injuries were reported by civilians or firefighters.
