LAKE ISABELLA, Calif., | Tuesday, just after 2:00 p.m., firefighters responded to a rapidly growing smoke column within view of Kern County Fire Department's station 72. When they arrived, a fire was burning through grass as locals attempted to stop the fire’s spread. KCSO deputies closed Lake Isabella Blvd. to non-emergency traffic as a wave of firefighters converged on the fire. Engine Crews deployed fire hose and Hand Crews used hand tools and chain saws to control the fire spread. The swift response from KCFD, USFS, and BLM stopped the fire at only 3.4 acres with no damage to structures and no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
