Arvin, CA

At approximately 10:24 a.m. the Kern County Fire Department responded to smoke and flames coming from a residential structure in the 300 block of Tucker Street in Arvin, CA. First on scene crews found an approximately 500 square foot detached apartment structure with smoke and flames threatening two nearby residences and a carport. Due to threat to exposures, first in crew began ensuring that nearby residences were evacuated. Second-in crews began successfully mitigating the exposure threats by extinguishing the fire. The fire was knocked down quickly and was contained to the structure of origin. There was some fire damage to the carport but no vehicles were damaged. The cause is under investigation. One elderly adult and pet were displaced due the fire. American Red Cross was notified for assistance. There were no injuries sustained to firefighters or civilians.
