At 11:43 a.m. the Kern County Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 300 block of 6th Street. Crews arrived on scene to find a rapidly developing fire in a single family home. Crews initiated a defensive attack of the fire and protected nearby exposures. Residents of the home reported a candle was burning in the bedroom initially involved in fire. No working smoke detectors were installed in the home. Six residents are displaced and the Red Cross was contacted to assist the family. One resident was transported to a nearby hospital for injuries sustained while exiting the home during the fire.
