Lamont, CA
At 5:25 am, the Kern County Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure on fire in Lamont. The first arriving engine crew was faced with a vacant, boarded-up home with heavy smoke showing. Crews entered the burning building to fight the fire and search for possible occupants, where none were found. The fire caused major damage to the structure involved, but firefighters were able to protect neighboring homes from sustaining any damage.
The cause of the fire is unknown, however transient activity in the vacant structure cannot be ruled out.
