Lebec, CA

At 11:25 AM, the Kern County Fire Department received a call for a grassfire Sout bound I-5, 1 mile N. of Fort Tejon. Kern County Fire arrived on scene to find a fast moving wind driven fire going up the mountain. With the location of the fire, Ready Kern was immediately activated and a recommended evacuation was set for the Digier Canyon area. Kern County Fire also requested Type 3 structure protection for Digier Canyon. Fire crews aggressively started to hike up hose packs from both sides of the mountain and multiple air drops were utilized. Fixed and rotor wing air drops were successful which stopped the forward progress to the fire, which saved the threaten homes. Crews were able to contain the fire within a couple of hours and will remain on scene for mop up.  All evacuations have been lifted.

Road Closures: None but it is advised to keep away from area to not impede fire apparatus.
