Inyokern, CA

Just after 8:30 PM this evening, the Kern County Fire Department received multiple calls for a house on fire in the 1100 block of North Everett Street in Inyokern. First arriving firefighters reported a double wide trailer approximately 75% involved with fire. There was one resident home at the time of the fire who safely evacuated the home prior to the arrival of fire crews. Fire crews deployed hose lines to extinguish the fire and were able to get a knock down on the fire and perform a search of the structure. The fire was controlled in approximately 25 minutes. One adult was displaced by the fire and was able to stay with friends overnight. Firefighters will assist with getting the displaced person in contact with American Red Cross to assist with temporary housing. The cause of the fire was accidental in nature as a result of an unattended lit cigarette.
