The KCFD received multiple calls for a building fire to the rear of a large farm home near the intersection of Commanche and Brekenridge Rd. A reinforced alarm was called for when smoke was visible from the KCFD Edison Sub-station. Crews arrived on scene to find a 3000 sq. ft. workshop with smoke and flames showing threatening an adjoining 5000 sq. ft. workshop. Crews made an aggressive attack on the fire containing it to the 3000 sq. ft. building. Fire crews had to shuttle water from a water source a few miles away since there was limited water on site. The Building is used as a shop for a pool business that applies product to underground pools. There were no reported injuries. Hazard reduction around the property helped limit the spread of fire.

Additional Information: The Kern County Fire Department would like to remind folks to take care with hazard reduction making sure to provide proper clearance around all structures and out buildings. If you live in rural areas having a fire water supply can greatly benefit firefighting efforts.
