Rosamond, CA

At 4:44 a.m. the Kern County Fire Department responded to a structure fire in 1500 block of Franklin Avenue, Rosamond, CA. First on scene crews found an approximately 250 square foot detached garage structure fully engulfed with heavy smoke and flames. With reports of a possible occupant, firefighters began an aggressive attack on the fire. Due to heavy fire conditions firefighting had to be done from the exterior. Next in crews took action on protecting adjacent exposed residences. Although the fire was knocked down in a matter of minutes, a deceased occupant was discovered inside during a search. The cause is under investigation. The fire was contained to structure of origin and did not spread to the main house. There were no injuries sustained to firefighters.
