Bakersfield, CA

At  approximately 2:00pm this evening, the Kern County Fire Department received multiple calls for a vegetation fire in the area of Comanche Dr. and Breckenridge Rd. First arriving crews made it on scene and found an approximately 1 acre grass fire, in the area of a shooting range, with winds pushing the fire at a moderate rate of spread. There was one home threatened, but with the combination of air and ground resources, fire crews were able to stop the forward progress of the fire at 117 acres. Crews will remain on scene for another couple of hours continuing mop up and full containment. There is no threat to structures at this time and there have been no structures damaged and no injuries as a result of this fire.

Evacuations: None

Additional Information: The Kern County Fire Department would like to remind residents that we are still in fire season and with no recent precipitation in Kern County, fuels are dry and very susceptible to burn. If you live in high fire hazard areas, please make sure you maintain the defensible space around their homes.
