KERN COUNTY, Calif. | The Kern County Fire Department (KCFD) is proud to publicly recognize and thank Ford Motor Company and Darley for the donation of a specially equipped Ford Bronco that is enhancing the department’s ability to safely operate in remote and challenging environments.
The Bronco was received by KCFD in the summer of 2025 as part of a collaborative effort to demonstrate how modern off-road vehicle capabilities, combined with advanced communications technology, can support firefighting and search and rescue operations. The vehicle highlights the Bronco’s ability to access rugged terrain while Darley’s integrated technology ensures firefighters remain connected in areas where traditional infrastructure is limited or unavailable.
Over the past several months, KCFD personnel have put the Bronco and its onboard technology through extensive real-world use, evaluating its performance during training and emergency incidents. The vehicle has already been utilized on active responses across Kern County, quietly proving its value in the field. The department is now excited to formally share the story of this project and express its appreciation for the vital donated equipment.
This announcement coincides with Ford’s official launch of a new program, “Answer the Call.” A new collaboration between the Bronco Wild Fund and the National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR), aimed at providing donated vehicles to search and rescue agencies.
The KCFD Bronco has recently gained broader attention after being featured in Ford social media and commercial campaigns, showcasing its role in public safety and emergency response.
Local media are invited to view the Ford Bronco on display this Wednesday, where representatives will be available to discuss the vehicle, its technology, and how partnerships like this directly support firefighter safety and operational effectiveness.
