Fire Hazard Severity Zones – Online Meeting

KERN COUNTY, Calif. | A virtual public meeting will be held to provide information and answer questions regarding the recently released Fire Hazard Severity Zone (FHSZ) maps for Local Responsibility Areas (LRAs). The meeting is scheduled for:

Thursday, April 17, 2025
1:30 PM
Join the meeting at: https://tinyurl.com/FHSZ-Kern

This informational session will include an overview of the updated FHSZ maps, which now reflect all three fire hazard classifications—Moderate, High, and Very High—as required under Senate Bill 63 (Stern, 2021). A question-and-answer segment will follow the presentation, offering attendees the opportunity to ask questions and provide input.

The updated maps support wildfire planning and preparedness efforts across the state, identifying hazard areas within Local Responsibility Areas to inform land use, building codes, and mitigation strategies.

The public review and comment period is still open, and individuals are encouraged to view the maps and submit feedback online at:
