WASCO, Calif. | The Kern County Fire Department proudly acknowledges the exceptional contributions of Georgianna Armstrong from the Kern County Office of Emergency Services (OES) and Jake Myers from the Kern County General Services Radio Shop, who were recently honored by the City of Wasco for their critical role in establishing communication systems for the newly formed Wasco Police Department.
Georgianna Armstrong played a pivotal role in securing a vital Homeland Security grant of $386,000, which enabled the City of Wasco to develop its radio infrastructure and equip Wasco City Police Officers with the necessary radios for daily operations. This grant was essential to ensure that Wasco Police could communicate effectively, providing enhanced public safety for the community.
Jake Myers, from the General Services Radio Shop, was also recognized for his dedication and expertise in facilitating the communication setup for Wasco’s new department. His efforts were instrumental in ensuring the radios and systems were in place and ready for the department’s launch.
The City of Wasco, represented by City Manager Scott Hurlbert and Police Chief Charles Fivecoat, expressed their deep gratitude to Georgianna and Jake for their unwavering support and collaboration, which has been instrumental in the successful establishment of the Wasco Police Department’s communications infrastructure.
