On Wednesday, May 22nd, the Kern County Fire Department participated in an annual “Aircraft Down” drill with multiple other agencies including Kern County EMS, Liberty Ambulance, Kern County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Meadows Field Airport Police. This simulates a response in the event of an aircraft emergency or crash, and how to simultaneously extinguish the fire while caring for injured victims in an organized and efficient manner. The ultimate goal is to get patients to definitive care while treating life threatening injuries.
