The Kern County Fire Department would like to announce that open burning of hazard reduction fuels will open on Saturday, January 6th, 2024. All individuals who plan on burning must obtain a burn permit, only burn on permissive days, and follow all rules and recommendations set forth when agreeing to the burn permit terms & conditions.
Instructions for obtaining a burn permit are listed below.
San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District:
If your burn location falls within SJVAPCD boundaries, you can obtain a permit in person from your nearest Kern County Fire Department station.
Eastern Kern Air Pollution Control District:
If your burn location falls within EKAPCD boundaries, visit Kern County Community Connect where you can apply for your burn permit online. For individuals needing further assistance EKAPCD may be contacted at (661) 862-5250.
