RIDGECREST, Calif., On Saturday September 9, 2023, Kern County firefighters joined dignitaries of the Indian Wells Valley, City of Ridgecrest, Ridgecrest PD, Kern County Sheriff’s Department, Liberty Ambulance, and China Lake NAWS to take part in the Parade of 1000 Flags. The parade honored First Responders and Military personnel for their service and sacrifice. Community members lined China Lake Boulevard in a show of support followed by a brief ceremony at Freedom Park in Ridgecrest. Flag bearers carried over 1000 flags in the parade to honor the victims of 9/11, firefighters, law enforcement, emergency, and military personnel. The flags were then displayed in the park for public viewing.
