LEBEC, Calif., Tuesday, Kern County firefighters at Station 56 placed a new “Type 3” fire engine (E356) in service. The new fire engine replaces one built in 1997 and used for 25 years to protect Kern communities. E356 was designed and equipped for fighting wildfires and responding to offroad emergencies. This is the first of several new Type 3 engines to arrive, which is a continuation of the ongoing process to replace aging fire equipment throughout the KCFD fleet.
